'L-Ahhar Warda' ('The Last Rose') Book Cover
It seems it is the year for book illustrations! My uncle, Gorg Peresso, a renowned author, radio and TV presenter in my home country Malta and also winner of the prestigious award the 2020 Malta National Book prize for Best Novel by National Book Council (Malta). 'L-Aħħar Warda' (Last Rose) a novel written by my uncle Ġorġ Peresso features part of my painting 'And God Created Woman'.
The original painting sparked my uncle's imagination who then asked my permission to use the artwork for the front cover of his book. I enhanced it digitally and Horizons Malta brought it to the next level.

Artworks made using my Left Hand
In January 2021, I had to undergo a long awaited carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand which is also my dominant hand. I was getting a bit frustrated knowing I couldn't use my right hand to draw or paint for at least a month, so I started experimenting painting with my left hand instead. I have mainly been finger painting or using paint slicks because I had more control. My paintings are looser and I enjoyed the orchestration of my fingers with paint. Going back to basics has been quite liberating!
2020 Artworks
This year has been a very unique one indeed - bushfires across the country and now Covid-19. However, amongst all of this, art prevails and I have been busy with a lot of projects.
Illustration Artworks
These artworks are a sample of the work I'm currently working for a book by Sandra Hardwood. Sandra has already written and published 2 children's books Each Moment and Weedy Thoughts with Busy Bird Publishing. My illustrations will be featured in her third book for children. This is my first time illustration a book and has been a great learning curve so far!
Art Classes Artworks
This year, through the City of Melton Council I started adult art classes at Springside Commuity Centre, Caroline Springs, Victoria. Due to Covid-19, classes for Term 2 where cancelled, however, we still managed to meet up for free online art sessions to create artworks together!
Maltese related artworks or Projects
At the start of this year, I was approached by the Maltese Community Council of Victoria to create a Maltese Luzzu (traditional fishing boat) float for the Moomba parade held in the city of Melbourne in February. I'm also working on a project called Me and UooUoo, a public art project to celebrate the 150 years anniversary of the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne (https://uoouoo.org.au/) I'm honoured to be part of 100 artists selected for this amazing project. My theme for the UooUoo (pronounced YouYou) is again the Maltese Luzzu. You can also follow my journey on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ABCreateartworks/
Strada Challenge January 2020
For the month of January, I participated in a Facebook challenge called the Strada Easel Challenge. The challenge consist of drawing or painting from life every day in January. I found this challenge fun and interesting, and at the same time, it helped me grow as an artist.l
2019 Artworks
Minding Monsters Exhibition November 2019
'Minding Monster' was an expressive exhibition of works of paper displaying a series of playful, exploratory drawings. Responding to evolving moods, Audrey has ‘doodled’ a series of drawings that together form a visual diary of changing elation and anxieties that brings out the monster within. Sometimes fun, sometimes dark, these cartoon-like artworks chart the process of emotional transformation, in which the artist, through creating work, finds a state of mindfulness and peace.
'Minding Monsters' exhibition was held in November 2019 at CS Gallery, Caroline Springs and was curated by Imagine Melton Arts+Culture with the support of the City of Melton.
Below is a sample of some of the works exhibited.
